QB's SUPER Quickies

QB's Super Quickie iconSince things like work, sleep, family, and reading seem to use up the time I need to write insightful, intelligent, witty, and LENGTHY commentaries (HEY! Did you just roll your eyes?!), Super Quickie posts give me a way to simply group books into my commentary categories and, more importantly, keep track of what I've read.

Hi Bev,
Here are my thoughts on "Outlaw Demon wails":

http://aradiaweblog.blogspot.com/2008/05/kim-harrisons-books.html

I read "Cry wolf" and liked it but comparing to her Mercy's series it was a little bland!
"Dead over Heels": well I read it a long time ago and can not remember individual stories now. My impression is it wasn't so hot!
Although it maybe because of my becoming bored with MaryJanice Davidson writing style.
As for "Rouge", is it any good? I read the first book but didn't feel like following the story.

Many happy readings to you!

Ooh, Aradia, I don't know about the Trent/Rachel pairing. At one point I agreed with you, but now that we KNOW he's ordered murders, I think he's irredeemable. If they do hook-up, I hope she blows him off.

Here's the secret to enjoying MJD's Queen Betsy: only listen to the audio books. The narrator, Nancy Wu, brings the characters to snarktastic life.

As for Rogue, yeah, I DO like the series. It's different- and different nearly always wins extra brownie points from me. But if you didn't like Stray, then I'd say that the series just isn't your "flavor".

Which, come to think of it, might also explain why you didn't care for "Cry Wolf" the two series kind of have the same "flavor".

I loved Cry Wolf... Its more of a romance than the Merry books.. which I enjoyed... One of the things I love about Patricia Briggs is that none of her heros or heroines are perfect and her ancillary characters (such as Bran) are just as interesting as the main characters...

I guess you are right. I like the supernatural factor more than romance in the stories and “Crywolf” and “Stray” are more about love and trust and adopting than supernatural nature of characters.
Listening to Nancy Wu? I will try that for Betsy's next book!
What do you think will happen in the “White witch, Black curse”? I can’t wait!

Wytherin, Briggs could release a new book every month and I doubt I'd get tired of reading her work. And, yeah, I agree about her secondary characters. I'm hoping we'll get more and more of Bran in upcoming books.

Aradia, I truly cannot even speculate what Harrison has coming up. As long as she doesn't hook up Rachel and Ivy, I'm going along for the ride. Maybe I'll get lucky and Ivy will hook up with someone else and be "off-stage" forever. I can only hope.

Gee, can you tell I can't stand Ivy?
