I Am So Screwed...

I think I might need an intervention for my serious addiction. It's taken over my life. Here I am with a shitload and a half of work to do, and do you know what I spent 2-1/2 hours doing online today?

I spent that time desperately trying to find someone... ANYONE... who could sell me the next audio book in Karen Marie Moning's Highlander series-- the one with my favorite Nathan Kamp cover picture-- that I am well aware DOESN'T RELEASE UNTIL JANUARY 20TH!!

Don't these people understand??!!! I've rationed out The Highlander's Touch that released in November, TRYING to make it last until Kiss of the Highlander was released. I tried, I really did. But it's all Phil Gigante's fault. I can no longer work without listening to his narration. And I have soooo much work to do right now... HOW CAN I GO ON WITHOUT MORE OF PHIL'S SCOTTISH BROGUE !! I NEED it... I'm in a complete panic because I'm going to have to wait to hear him again.

None of the downloadable sites will sell it until the 20th. And I found two places that said they had the CDs in stock and would ship in two to three BUSINESS days. Not good enough. I was even willing to pay double the cost of the audio book to have it overnighted to me, or at the latest, here by Monday. But n-o-o-o-o-o-o-o, I'd be lucky if they even shipped by Monday. Yes Phil narrates other author's books. Yes, KMM has the Fever series in audio. But it's not the same... not anywhere NEAR the same. And it's the first MacKelter story!! AAAAAAHHHHHHHHH! *sob*

The Highlander series is so delicious, and hearing it through Phil Gigante's narration, with Nathan Kamp's cover pics sitting right on top of my monitor, allows me to physically be here in this world working diligently, but mentally I've actually been carried far, far away.

God, I feel like a crack whore who will do anything to get her next fix. I can't concentrate on work... all I can think of is how much I miss hearing those Highlander stories delivered in that swoon worthy voice.

Damn you Phil Gigante! Damn you Karen Marie Moning! Look what you've done to me!

LOL QB I have never tried any books on cd. But you make me want to join in your addiction. You make it sound like such a wonderful thing.
Hey! Thats not good I have a bad enough book addiction as it is, I don't need a whole new form of book addiction. LOL. Waving Scottish Brogue in my face... Bad QB! Bad!

Jade, you are so funny! Of COURSE it's a wonderful thing! It's all the reasons we read, but with the added bonus that we can "read" when we can't really read!! LMAO because only another audio and book addict will be able to fully appreciate that statement.

Was it the Highlanders you put on your wish list, or did you just mean audio books in general? What are ya getting?

Did you see this? Aural Pleasures on TGTBTU because in part one, I mention other places to get audio books. I don't know about the Canadian library sytem, but if they have them, you could try one for free and see if you like them.

BTW, I can't promise that the posts at TGTBTU are viewable right now, all hands are on deck getting the new template together and moving the site to a new host, so stuff is pretty wonky right now.

From one crack whore to another, I feel your pain. LOL I know exactly what you are going through. I've been in that state a lot lately.

Now I have to check out this series of audio books! As if I need another thing to become addicted to. : )

Oh, MB, don't say I didn't warn you when you, too, are transformed into an out of control Phil Gigante/Highlanders addict.

I coined the term eargasms just for him!

Dear Cubie-lass,

I can't tell you how thrilled and humbled I am that you enjoy the Highlander series so much. It's listeners like you who make me want to give that extra inch (ahem) to bring the characters to life.

On behalf of myself, Laura Grafton (my wonderful director of the Highlander series) and the brilliant Brilliance Audio engineers and staff---Thanks again to you, your fans on the blog, and lovers of KMM's beautiful words.

Hope Kitty enjoys it's next dose of meds!

Sincerely yours,
Phil Gigante

PS There's a certain Highlander who'd love to send you a short audio note; warning--it may be rather Dark.

OMGOMGOMG *SQUEE*

I'm not even going to TRY to act cool-- in case you haven't noticed, I have a complete fangirl crush on you, Phil!!! (um... that doesn't completely creep you out does it?)

An audio note?! Really?! Yes, pleasepleasePLEASE!

You can email me at OHBAL (at) aol (dot) com. Thank you, thank you!

Oh, and assuming I figure out how to do it, would it be okay if I post it here on my blog? If not, just say so and it'll just be our little secret. LOL.

BTW, would you ever consider letting me email you my grocery lists? See, you could then record yourself reading them and send them back to me. It would make time at my "Happy Place" (note heavy sarcasm) such a pleasant and highly anticipated experience. [hee]

Creepy stalker fan? Who me?

;-p

Oh no! I can feel compulsion coming on. Now I have to hear these amazing books. I've read and reread all of them but had no idea they were in "voice".

Pulls out sad and tired credit card and trudges to audio section.

Love the kitty pic. Love the response from Phil G more! Was the audio note dark? Did he send it? Can I bribe you to listen to it???

Gail, you already love the books? Oh, you are so screwed, too. The audio books are gonna blow your mind.

I haven't heard back from Phil G. yet but am ever so patiently (NOT) still waiting and hoping he hasn't forgotten me already.

Dear Cubie,

Just a short note to say thanks again for listening!

I'm in the director's seat this week---directing Joyce Bean (of KMM's The Fever Series)in Shirley Jackson's newest called Lost Souls.

Hope you enjoy your note--though it doesn't have a grocery list on it! (But remember to stock up on the Dark chocolate!)

Take care, Lass!
Phil

Okay, ladies, let me just say that I WILL be keeping a certain message from a certain Dark Highlander quite private. But, just so you know, I'm having multiple and uncontrollable Squeegasms AND Eargasms right now. I may never get this ear-to-ear smile off my face.

And Phil, you made me feel as giddy as if I was in 5th grade and Davy Jones of The Monkees had just emailed me!! um... that is... if we had email back then... or PCs... or digital communications of any kind. But the same rabid fangirl sentiment is there. Thank you SO much for giving me that extra "inch". LOL

Smartass. Although it could have been worse, I suppose. You could have asked me how we survived without electricity.
