I Am a Paragon of Virtue

Yep, I've decided to cut back on book buying *GASP* until I get through some of my TBR. I had planned on continuing to buy the books I had the most booklust for, the ones I KNEW I would read ASAP, but tonight, before I ever left for Waldens, I decided to buy only ONE of the new releases.

I KNOW.... that's CRAZY TALK, isn't it?!

But, for some reason, I could not find one single Borders coupon that is valid right now. NOT ONE! Wut up wit dat?! Those coupons are the only way I can convince my frugal side (Yes, I DO SO have one!) that it's perfectly okay to buy from Borders/Waldens instead of ordering from Amazon (hush... it's MY delusion). And I knew I had a $5.00 Borders Reward that wouldn't kick in until next week, so I chose to exercise restraint and NOT BUY ALL THE BOOKS I MOST LUSTED AFTER!!

OMFG!! My mind... it is... altering... Be afraid... be very afraid.

Blood Noir Book CoverSo, since Laurell K. Hamilton's Blood Noir was calling my name AND, as a new hardcover release, it was 30% off list, that is the ONLY new release I bought.

Cover of Night Book Cover Okay, they had the hardcover of Linda Howard's Cover of Night and Elizabeth Lowell's Innocent as Sin on clearance for $4.99 each. So I bought those. But both those authors have standing spots on my wait-for-clearance list and third tier TBR, so they don't actually count towards breaking my vow. I mean, if I didn't buy them tonight on clearance, then if/when I bought the paperbacks later, it would actually cost me MORE.Innocent as Sin Book Cover

So, not only am I virtuous, but also thrifty, flexible, and clearly of high intelligence. Right?

Justifying, Justifying - we are so good at doing that - us bookaholics. Good buys though!

heh heh heh

LOL, I go through the same rationalizations as you QB. I keep telling myself that I won't buy any more until I get through some of the pile and then what happens, you post a damn good review of some really hot book and I have to buy it!

Case in point, DH had a coupon this last weekend and I begged him for it when the first book that hit my eyes at Borders when I got to the romance section was Hotter After Midnight and I had to have it. Kismet right?

There always seems to be some new book that grabs my attention that I just know I will love and usually do, leaving my TBR pile and my ability to stop myself from buying, in the wind. Such is the life of a reader, huh? LOL

I'm rooting for you to have will power to stick to your TBR pile, cause some of us have to. :)

heh... I spent over 300 bucks last week on Amazon... Of course I was ordering stuff for the whole family to take along on vacation (and preordering all my auto buys)

Soooo... have you read Blood Noir yet? Whatcha think?

Wytherin, who ain't reading it, but wants to know if :still a fan: thinks this is a good book..

IIRC, I saw a banner once over on LKH that said "I am not a freak amongst my own kind."

I have to admit, book addiction doesn't seem quite as OCD when you hang around out here in Romancelandia. It seems perfectly normal, doesn't it?

Wytherin, I finished Blood Noir last night and, time permitting, I hope to write my commentary later today.

And that's all you are getting outta me right now! LOLOL

who knew someone who is obsessed with sweets could be sooo mean...

heh... Bam (dionne galace) is also going to review the book. She is in the category of, " I can't believe I still read these books but I can't quit LKH".... Its fun to see all the various ways these books hit people... Even if I can't bear to go there myself anymore...

Heh, I'm Bam's token LKH fangirl. I read her LKH reviews through my fingers knowing she's going to be vicious but funny as hell. Although, she's going to have to work hard to find something to talk about in Blood Noir.

And now, I'll leave you to try and figure out what I meant by that cryptic comment.

BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA

ok, the only way there would be nothing to talk about if the book is boring as heck... because the best snarkage comes from both bad and good...

LKH boring? Never say its so!!!(note how I am trying to tempt you to give something away....look into my eyes... you are getting sleepy...)
