In Jumping into Things, we first meet Jed Thatcher, a Colorado pilot, and Eli, a Portland smoke jumper. Jed allows Eli to be himself for the first time in his life, prompting Eli to take the scariest leap of his life.
We then meet Jed's younger brother Ross, a jump trainer, lady charmer, and good ol' boy. He's straight... or so he thought... until he meets Kevin.
In Landing with Both Feet, Jed and Eli are facing some life changing decisions together. In the meantime, Kevin’s life changing decision callously splits him and Ross up. Watching Ross struggle through his bewilderment and sense of loss is heartbreaking. He consoles himself with women, alcohol, and daring Jed to kick his ass. As for Kevin? I’m sooo over him! Ross deserves better.
Taking the Leap continues Ross' story. After leaving Colorado and wandering aimlessly, his truck breaks down in Texas where he meets Tank. Tank is an auto mechanic and budding hot sauce entrepreneur who takes the down-on-his-luck Ross into his home while they wait for a part for Ross' truck. A true friendship develops long before they become lovers and Ross never does get around to movin' on again. When Ross brings Tank back to visit Colorado, Tank just fits right in with Ross' family. And we, as readers, get the satisfaction of catching up with all the warm, colorful, salt-of-the-earth people we've grown fond of throughout this heartwarming series.
