More from the Jeff Files

Tomorrow, July 4th, is Independence Day. A day we, as Americans, get all mushy about Patriotism. And I’ll be right there standing up and applauding with a tear in my eye and my heart swelled with pride as our veterans carry Old Glory at the front of our hometown parade.

But today, I thought I’d celebrate one of our basic, most fiercely defended rights as Americans- the freedom to bitch. And it’s one of our favorite National Pastimes. So I now give you another entry from my file of emails forwarded from my brother-in-law, Jeff (my favorites are highlighted)…

-Pericles (430 B.C.)

No man's life, liberty, or property is safe while the legislature is in session.
-Mark Twain (1866)

Talk is cheap...except when Congress does it.

The government is like a baby's alimentary canal, with a happy appetite at one end and no responsibility at the other.
-Ronald Reagan

The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of the blessings. The inherent blessing of socialism is the equal sharing of misery.
-Winston Churchill

The only difference between a tax man and a taxidermist is that the taxidermist leaves the skin.
